Odo II (Burgundy)
Odo II ( French Eudes II , * probably 1118; † September 27, 1162 ) was Duke of Burgundy from 1143 to 1162; he was the son of Duke Hugo II and Mathilde von Mayenne .
When King Ludwig VII ascended the throne in 1137, he refused the feudal oath, but was obliged to do so by Pope Hadrian IV . In 1147 he took part in the siege of Lisbon in favor of his cousin Alfonso I of Portugal . He was nevertheless a predatory ruler and because of his offenses he had to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land , on which he died. He was buried in the Cîteaux monastery .
