Anson Funderburgh (born November 15, 1954 in Plano , Texas ) is an American blues guitarist. He is best known with his band Anson Funderburgh & the Rockets .

Funderburgh's role models were blues greats like Freddie King , Jimmy Reed and Albert Collins . He played in Dallas clubs from an early age. In 1978 he founded the Rockets . From 1986 until his death in 2006, Sam Myers was the band's singer and harmonica player. This collaboration resulted in an energetic mix of Texas Blues and Delta Blues . In 1989 and 1990 Mike Judge played bass for the Rockets .

Between 2012 and 2016 he toured with Charlie Baty and Mark Hummel as the Golden State / Lone Star Revue , which also released two CDs.
