Antonia Vicens
Antònia Vicens i Picornell (born March 27, 1941 in Santanyí , Mallorca ) is a Mallorcan writer .
For her first work Banc de fusta , a series of short stories, she received a prize in Cantonigròs in 1965 . In 1967 she won the Premi Sant Jordi de novel·la with the novel 39º a l'ombra . The “Mallorcan universe” is the source of inspiration for Vicens' work.
In 1977 she was Vice-President of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana . Vicens won various awards, the most important of which were the Creu de Sant Jordi in 1999 and the Ramon Llull Medal in 2004.
Her works have been translated into German and Spanish .
