Antón Arrufat

Antón Arrufat Mrad (born August 14, 1935 in Santiago de Cuba ) is a Cuban dramaturge and writer.

On his father's side, Arrufat comes from a family who immigrated from Catalonia , while his mother's family has Lebanese roots. In 1947 Arrufat and his family moved from his native city of Santiago to the capital Havana , where he obtained his secondary school diploma (bachillerato) in 1955.

After a long stay in the USA , Arrufat returned to Cuba after the revolution . He lives as a writer in Havana.

Arrufat acted as executor of his friend Virgilio Piñera 's will and thus largely saved his literary work.
