Premio Nacional de Literatura de Cuba

The Premio Nacional de Literatura de Cuba (Cuban State Prize for Literature) was established by the Cuban Ministry of Culture in 1982 as one of the oldest Cuban state art prizes . Since then it has been awarded annually to one or more writers for their life's work. Living authors based in Cuba are honored. Some official Cuban cultural institutions have the right of nomination; Ultimately, a jury decides among the candidates. The prize is endowed with 10,000 Pesos , and the winners will also be honored in a festive award ceremony with an artistically designed certificate and a presence at the International Book Fair of Havana ( Feria Internacional del Libro de La Habana ). Due to the award ceremony, many of her books will also be reissued. In most cases, the winners of the state award also receive a kind of state pension in the amount of 100 CUC , but this is not an official part of the award.
