António de Sousa Marinho e Pinto (born September 10, 1950 in Vila Chã do Marão , Amarante ) is a Portuguese lawyer and politician. He was chairman of the Bar Association of his country.

Life

Before he was elected chairman of the bar on December 1, 2007, he was a member of the organization's central council and president of the human rights committee .

In the 2014 European elections , he ran for the first place in the list for the ecologically conservative Partido da Terra . Thanks to its popularity, the party won 7.14 percent (and thus two seats). Just four months later he left the party and founded the Partido Democrático Republicano . He remained in the ALDE group.

Marinho Pinto also worked as a journalist, among other things. He is currently teaching as a visiting professor at the University of Coimbra .
