The Partido Democrático Republicano (PDR; German: Democratic Republican Party) is a liberal to left-wing liberal political party in Portugal . It was founded on October 5th, 2014 in Coimbra by António Marinho e Pinto and registered by the Portuguese Constitutional Court on February 11th, 2015 . Marinho Pinto was elected to the European Parliament for the Partido da Terra in 2014 , but four months later he joined the PDR he founded.

The PDR is a member of the European Democratic Party (EDP). Marinho Pinto was a member of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).

Political positions

The PDR is slightly skeptical of the EU and particularly campaigns against EU bureaucratism and corruption.

elections

In the parliamentary elections in Portugal in 2015 , the PDR received 1.14% of the vote, but no seats. The PDR was the strongest party that did not move into parliament.

In the European elections on May 26, 2019, the party received 15,789 votes, or 0.48 percent. She could not get a mandate.
