Anta da Foz do Rio Frio

The Anta da Foz do Rio Frio is located on a hill overlooking the confluence of the Rio Frio with the Tagus , west of Ortiga , in the Mação district in the Santarém district in Portugal . Anta is the Portuguese name for around 5000 megalithic structures or dolmens , which were built during the Neolithic in the west of the Iberian Peninsula by the successors of the cardial or imprint culture .

The Anta, with its corridor oriented towards the river, shows a relatively good state of preservation of the vertical structures and the floor covering, while the ceiling tiles of the chamber and corridor have disappeared.

The Anta was sold in 1977 under the No. 70904 classified as a Monument of Interest by the Instituto de Gestão do Património Arquitetónico e Arqueológico ( IGESPAR ).
