The Anta of Curral dos Mouros (also called Dólmen da Sobreda ) is located in Sobreda in the municipality of Seixo da Beira , Coimbra district , Portugal . It was placed under protection in 1959. Anta is the Portuguese name for around 5000 megalithic structures or dolmens , which were built during the Neolithic in the west of the Iberian Peninsula by the successors of the cardial or imprint culture .

The anta, made of large heavy stones, has been stripped of all of its ceiling tiles above the chamber and the corridor, and more than half of the supporting stones in the corridor are missing. The supporting stones of the camera form an oval, presumably paved chamber, which was entered through a long and wide corridor. Traces of red paintings could still be seen on one of the bearing stones of the chamber in the late 19th century .

The approximately 6,000-year-old dolmen contained a variety of stone tools (almost 150 arrowheads ), broken ceramics from around 500 vessels and even wood or bones. The latter are easily degradable and difficult to identify due to the strong acidity of the soil.

After a short use phase, the Anta was closed and her mound was in the next two millennia, the object for subsequent uses by the support of other cultures .

About 3.3 km to the west is the Anta da Arcainha .
