Antanas Račas

Antanas Račas (born August 28, 1940 in Jurbarkas , † February 9, 2014 in Kelmė ) was a Lithuanian politician .

Life

Račas graduated from Kiduliai Middle School in the Šakiai district . Then he did compulsory service in the Soviet Army . From 1962 to 1967 he completed his degree in German at the Faculty of Philology at Vilnius University . In 1967 he worked as a teacher in Degučiai in the Zarasai district and was deputy director of the Aviliai school . From 1968 to 1976 he was the director of the Šaukėnai Middle School near Kelmė . From 1976 to 1990 he taught the German language at Kelmė Second Middle School. From 1990 to 1992 and from 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the Seimas . From 2003 to 2011 he was a member of the council of Kelmė Rajong Municipality .

After Bloody Sunday in Vilnius in January 1991, he founded a Lithuanian information office in Hüttenfeld and was its director until November 1991.

From 1993 he was a member of the Tėvynės sąjunga .

Honor
