Antanas Sučila

Antanas Sučila (born February 20, 1917 in Dikoniai , Wolost Pušalotas (now Panevėžys Rajongemeinde ), Panevėžys district ; † June 11 or June 12, 2017 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian surgeon and professor .

Life

Antanas Sučila had brother Jurgis and sisters Anelė and Ona.

After the Panevėžys elementary school and men's high school , Antanas Sučila studied from autumn 1936 at the Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas in Kaunas . In 1939 he did military service and then graduated from medicine . In 1943 he worked in Baisogala and from 1944 at Panevėžys Hospital . From 1945 he was a surgeon for over 50 years in the Red Cross Hospital in Vilnius . From 1946 Sučila taught at the Vilniaus universitetas (VU). In 1964 he received his doctorate (on the subject of “Porezekcinių bronchinių fistulių priežastys ir profilaktika”) and in 1973 he completed his habilitation (subject “Eksperimentiniai ir klinikiniai plaučių rezekcijos minėjimai”). From 1967 he taught as a lecturer and from 1976 as a professor. He worked at VU for 48 years.

His grave is in the Antakalnis cemetery .
