The Antarctic Point is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . The cape marks the entrance to Antarctic Bay to the west and the entrance to Tornquist Bay to the east .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it between 1926 and 1930. They named the cape based on the name of the bay of the same name after the Antarctic , the ship of the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901-1903) under the direction of the polar explorer Otto Nordenskjöld .
