Anthony Ríos ( Florián Antonio Jiménez , born July 17, 1950 in Las Cañitas ; † March 4, 2019 ) was a Dominican singer and composer .

Ríos began his career as a guitarist and singer in Hato Mayor. Here he met Joaquín Jiménez Maxwell , who brought him together with the band leader Johnny Ventura in Santo Domingo. With his band Combo Show , Ríos' first album El sentimental was created in the early 1970s . He then received a ten-year contract with the Kubanay label , with which he recorded ten LPs during this time.

In 1979 he founded the El Sonido Original orchestra with Luis Martí , with whom he recorded two LPs as a soloist for Alga Records . Further albums were made in the 1990s ( Boleros como ayer , 1993; En bachatas , 1996; El gran homenaje a Odilio , 1998). In 1996 he made his cinema debut in the Dominican film Nueva Yol III . He also appeared in television shows such as El Show de Luisito y Anthony , El Show del Mediodía and Cuentos y Cantos .

Ríos composed almost all of his songs himself, and he also composed for singers such as Sophy , Lissette , Yolandita Monge , Fernando Allende and Pastor López .
