Lissette Álvarez Chorens (born March 10, 1947 in Lima ), known as Lissette is a Cuban singer, composer and actress.

Álvarez was born on a concert tour of her parents, the Cuban singers Olga Chorens and Tony Álvarez , in Lima. In Cuba, she took on El ratoncito Miguel with her parents as a child . She later went to Puerto Rico and made her debut there in the 1960s with titles such as Poema 20 , Entre las flores , Cabecita loca , Dedicado al amor , Lazos azules y rosas and Molino al viento, and at the same time began her career as an actress alongside René Rubiella in the movie El derecho de comer . With the song Falsedad she hit the hit lists in 1972, and it was followed in the 1970s by popular titles such as Martes dos de la tarde , Lo voy a dividir , Quiéreme , Soy , La extranjera , Justo yo , Tú eres esa chica enamorada , Copacabana , Te propongo and La única que amó .

In the US, she has given concerts at Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall and has appeared on television with Melissa Manchester and Michel Legrand . In 1981 an album was released with his own compositions, orchestrated by Jorge Calandrelli under the title Lissette , followed in 1984 by the album Caricaturas . In 1985 she became a member of the group Hermanos del Tercer Mundo , which, after calling on Bob Geldof, fought against hunger in the world and performed with musicians such as José Feliciano , Pedro Vargas and Julio Iglesias . In a concert at the Sala de Festivales Antonio Paoli of the Centro de Bellas Artes in San Juan, she gave a review of her musical career. The recording of the concert was released on CD in 2001 and was awarded by the Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular . In 2005 she released an English-language album on her own label La línea de la vida . In 2007 her duo album Amarraditos was released with Willy Chirino .
