Chucho Avellanet

Chucho Avellanet ( Armando Hipólito Avellanet González ; born August 13, 1941 in Mayagüez ) is a Puerto Rican singer.

Avellanet began his musical career in the 1960s as a member of the Los Duendes trio . During one of his appearances, the producer Gaspar Pumarejo discovered him and hired him for television. He joined the musical Nueva Ola and became one of Puerto Rico's first rock stars with titles such as Fugitiva , Magia blanca and Jamás te olvidaré . He then performed in Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, the República Dominicana and the Hispanic communities in the United States, and with Jamás te olvidaré was number one on Venezuela's hit lists for seventeen weeks.

In the late 1960s, he produced several recordings for the United Artists de los Estados Unidos label , including the English-language album In a Little Spanish Town and with the accompaniment of the orchestra of Leroy Holmes Love & Violins , a classic of his career. The titles Canta muchachita , Se acabó , Ya no existe el amor , La primera novia , Si yo fuera rico , Manolo , Love Story and Por tí were also successful . With Guillermo Venegas Lloveras ' Por tí , he represented Puerto Rico at the OTI Festival in Spain in 1972 .

Between the 1960s and 1980s, Avellanet appeared on several television shows, including the Ford Show , El Show de Chucho y Lissette , Señoras y señores , Con Chucho Avellanet, and most recently El Show de Chucho Avellanet . He also worked in film productions such as Libertad para la juventud and Un amante anda suelto .

In the 1980s songs such as Qué mal amada estás , Será varón, será mujer , Hoy me recuerdas , Se me secó la piel , Abeja reina and Recordando a Tito Rodríguez were recorded , and Avellanet founded the Unicornio label , whose first project was an album with the Argentine Cantauthor Alberto Cortez . With the production Estoy de vuelta he took part in the Expo 92 in Seville.

On the album Ayer, hoy y siempre in 2003 he presented duets with Danny Rivera , Blanca Rosa Gil , Dagmar , Lissette and others. Three years later, Roberto Livi produced the CD Esta noche está para boleros , which was nominated for a Latin Grammy . Another Grammy nomination received his 2007 album Bohemios with the Trio Los Andinos . His album Navidades en mi pueblo was released at Christmas 2015 .
