IC 3909 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 792 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 3897 , IC 3920 , IC 3928 , IC 3945 .
The object was discovered by Max Wolf on March 21, 1903 .
