IC 3892 is a spiral galaxy with an active galaxy core of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 209 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter. Together with IC 3895 , it forms the (optical) galaxy pair Holm 487 or KPG 360 .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 3879 , IC 3888 , IC 3893 , IC 3897 .

The object was discovered by Max Wolf on March 21, 1903 .
