IC 3883 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 167 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4773 , NGC 4780 , NGC 4818 , IC 3908 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in July 1899 .
