IC 3897 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Canes Venatici the northern sky . It is an estimated 335 million light years from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 3888 , IC 3892 , IC 3895 , IC 3920 .
The object was discovered by Max Wolf on March 21, 1903 .
