Sofía Hernández Font (born December 15, 1950 in Aguadilla ), known as Sophy , is a Puerto Rican singer.

Live and act

Sophy became known in the 1960s with television appearances on the WAPA Televisión . In the late 1960s she went to New York and became a singer in Tito Puente's orchestra . With this she appeared in Tito Puente y su mundo latino on the channel Canal 47 in Newark and recorded the albums Tito Puente presenta con orgullo .... Sophy and Te Reto on Tico Records .

In Puerto Rico she appeared on Canal 4 of WAPA Television and in 1973 released the album Yo soy mujer ... y no soy una santa on the Velvet label . Successful titles such as Hastío , Usted ya me olvidó , Te acordarás de mí , Qué vas a hacer sin mí , Me muero por estar contigo , Despertarás llorando , Te pido que te quedes , Una noche por mes and Yo lo comprendo and appearances in Mexico followed , Venezuela, Ecuador, Haiti and the USA. In the Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo she performed with Fausto Rey in front of an audience of 30,000.

This was followed by appearances at Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall and, in the late 1970s, the live broadcast and recording of a concert at Telecadena Pérez Perry and Venevisión de Puerto Rico . At the Teatro Tapia she sang with an orchestra of thirty music professors under the direction of Pedro Rivera Toledo . In the early 1980s she appeared with ballads such as Vicio , Un amante así , Qué sabe nadie , Todo comenzó and Beso a beso , and Willie Colón produced the album Sophy en Nueva York with her .

Sophy had great success with titles such as El ritmo de la noche (by Lou Briel ), Marinero , Se ve y se va , 10 noviembres and No lo dejes caer (with Johnny Ventura ). Their album Tributo a grandes voces , with whom she musicians such as Los Ángeles Negros , Virginia López , Toña la Negra , Javier Solís , Agustín Lara , Felipe Lara , Lucho Gatica , Jose Feliciano , Pedro Infante , Lino Borges , Roberto Yanes , Bobby Capó and Gilberto Monroig , was recognized by the Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular as an outstanding production in 1997. In total, their discography includes more than thirty albums.
