Anthony Tryon, 3rd Baron Tryon

Anthony George Merrik Tryon, 3rd Baron Tryon , OBE , DL ( May 26, 1940 - December 22, 2018 ) was a British peer , businessman and politician .

life and career

He was born on May 26, 1940 to Charles Tryon, 2nd Baron Tryon and Etheldreda Josephine Burrell. From 1954 to 1956 he was the Page of Honor to Elizabeth II. He was a non-executive director at a leading gunsmiths company in London . He was also the non-executive chairman of a company that manufactured accessories for the arms trade .

In 1992 he was Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire . In 2001 he was named Officer of the Order of the British Empire .

Membership in the House of Lords

On the death of his father he inherited the title of Baron Tryon and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . There he sat as a crossbencher . He gave his inaugural address on December 1, 1977 on the Gun Barrell Proof Bill .

He spoke in the late 1970s about the Deer Bill , management fees of the Unit Trust and the Firearms (Variation of Fees) Order 1978. In the 1980s Tryon signed up for the Wildlife and Countryside Bill , the Fish Farming (Financial Assistance) Scheme 1984, among other things and on the Firearms (Amendment) Bill to speak. In the 1990s he spoke on the Coal Industry Bill , the Badgers Bill, and the House of Lords Bill .

He lost his seat through the House of Lords Act 1999 .

family

On April 13, 1973 he married Dale Harper, the daughter of Henry Preston Barrington Harper. They divorced in September 1997. Together they had two sons and two daughters.

When he died in 2018, his eldest son Charles inherited his title of nobility.
