Anthony Yigit (born September 1, 1991 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish professional boxer and former European light welterweight champion .
Career
Yigit boxed as an amateur light welterweight (up to 64 kg). He was Swedish champion in 2010 and 2012, won the Northern European Championship in 2012 and was quarter-finalist of the European Championships in 2010 and 2011, as well as eighth-finalist of the 2011 World Cup. At the 2012 Olympic Games , he was eliminated in the last sixteen with 23:24 against Ukrainian Denys Berintschyk .
He has been boxing in the professional camp since 2013. In his build-up phase, he has beaten boxers with positive results such as Kasper Bruun (16-0), Kim Poulsen (26-1) and Timo Schwarzkopf (14-0). In December 2015, he defeated former world champion DeMarcus Corley early in the third round. In September 2016 he won against Armando Robles (31-4).
On February 11, 2017, he won the EBU European Championship in England with a unanimous victory over Lenny Daws (30-4). In September 2017 he defended the title on points against Sandor Martin (29-1). He won another title defense in December 2017 against Joe Hughes (15-2).
On October 27, 2018, he boxed against Iwan Barantschyk (18-0) for the IBF World Light Welterweight Championship, but lost the fight by dropping out of the referee in the seventh round.
