Demarcus Deon Corley , better known as DeMarcus Corley (born June 3, 1974 in Washington, DC ) is an American professional boxer and former WBO world light welterweight champion.

Boxing career

As an amateur, he won the National Golden Gloves in Lowell in 1995 . He started his professional career in 1996 and suffered only one defeat in his first 30 fights. In September 1999 he defeated Ener Julio for the first time in the fight for the US championship. In June 2001 he won the vacant WBO World Cup in Las Vegas through tKo in the first round against Felix Flores from Puerto Rico . In two other title defenses, he also defeated Ener Julio and Randall Bailey again . In July 2003, he lost the title by narrowly losing points to Zab Judah . In May 2004, a point defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr. followed. In two further World Cup fights, he failed in 2005 against Miguel Cotto and in 2006 against Junior Witter .

Afterwards he mainly appeared only as a build-up opponent and in the following years suffered defeats against José Alfaro (2007), Devon Alexander (2008), Randall Bailey (2008), Marcos Maidana (2010), Lucas Matthysse (2011), Ruslan Prowodnikow (2011), Wiktor Postol (2012) and Selçuk Aydın (2013). In 2012 he scored two wins against the undefeated Gabriel Bracero and the European champion Paul McCloskey.
