Antifascist Left Berlin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Antifascist Left Berlin (ALB) was an anti-fascist group in Berlin .

The Antifascist Left Berlin was one of two groups that emerged from the separation of the Antifascist Action Berlin at the beginning of 2003. In contrast to the more theoretical and anti - German criticism and practice in Berlin , the ALB saw itself as a traditional left-wing radical group with a strong “practical focus ”.

ALB activists appeared as registrants and organizers of demonstrations or supported other calls, e.g. For example, at the Revolutionary May Day demonstrations in Berlin, the annual demonstrations in memory of Silvio Meier , the Liebknecht-Luxemburg demonstration or in actions against marches by neo-Nazi organizations.

The ALB worked in alliances on anti-fascist issues, social protests and other political fields of the radical left. She was part of the Berlin Social Forum and a member of the Interventionist Left .

The state monopoly on the use of force was called into question by the ALB. According to the police union, the ALB also called for violence against people.

In September 2014, the group announced its dissolution. The reasons given were resignation, helplessness, members leaving and a crisis on the radical left in Germany and Europe. While part of the group organized itself in a newly founded Berlin local group of the Interventionist Left, according to information from the Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution , another part organized itself together with former members of the anti-fascist Revolutionary Action Berlin in the newly founded radical left Berlin (RLB).

Assessment of the constitution protection authorities

According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the ALB was one of the three leading autonomous groups in the Berlin antifa scene. With sixty members it was at times the largest organization in this area. According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in the states of Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony, it was a left-wing extremist group. The resolution in 2014 did not come as a surprise to the head of the Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Bernd Palenda . The group, last estimated at 30 to 40 members, had been temporarily unable to act after internal disagreements since 2012. Palenda called the decline an exemplary upheaval that other groups are still to face.
