Antifascist Revolutionary Action Berlin
The Antifascist Revolutionary Action Berlin (ARAB) (spelling: [ARAB]) was a group that was one of the main actors in the autonomous spectrum in Berlin.
history
The group was founded in January 2007 with the aim of " bringing social revolutionary content into society" and appeared for the first time at the 2007 Liebknecht Luxembourg demonstration . According to the Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution , the ARAB has since been well connected and one of the most active left-wing extremist groups, which, in addition to campaigns on issues such as social cuts, anti-militarism and anti-globalization, also represented militant anti-fascism in connection with anti-capitalism . The group had 20 members in 2008.
At the end of 2007 the group was involved in the founding of the Kurdistan Solidarity Committee in Berlin. As part of the Kurdistan Alliance, ARAB organized events and demonstrations that were supposed to network the German, Turkish and Kurdish-speaking left.
The May 1st demonstrations in 2008 were co-organized by the group and finally escalated on Skalitzer Strasse in Kreuzberg when the Berlin police chief was attacked. In 2009 ARAB activists were also involved in May Day campaigns in Kreuzberg . A spokesman said the demonstration was “in the tradition of Blutmai 1929, [we] need a revolutionary overthrow to solve the problems.” At the demonstration itself, this demand was reiterated: “We are not in favor of constructive proposals. We are for social unrest. ” In 2010, the ARAB was one of the driving forces behind the May 1st demonstration.
In April 2009 ARAB was involved in the protests against the NATO summit in Strasbourg .
In a taz interview, a spokesman for the ARAB stated: “ Different [note: than when setting fire to“ luxury cars in trendy districts ”], it is with targeted attacks on vehicles of the Bundeswehr , DHL or Deutsche Bank . Building political pressure on these corporations has its legitimacy. Not every protest movement has to be limited to the means of the state. “The public prosecutor saw in this interview an approval of criminal offenses and charged the alleged interviewee.
The prohibition of a demonstration on November 26, 2010 entitled "Stop austerity packages" was justified, among other things, with the participation of the group.
According to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Berlin, in 2010 the group was " involved - in some cases in a leading role " in all relevant events of the left-wing extremist scene in Berlin .
In February 2012, the first issue of its own magazine was published, entitled Perspective - Texts for the Revolutionary Building Process .
From October 2014 until its dissolution in 2016, ARAB was part of the New Anti-Capitalist Organization (NAO), an umbrella organization of various left-wing groups and individuals. They saw this step as a “consequence of the practice and experience of the past seven years.” The ARAB tried to be “part of a unification process of the left”. The initial orientation towards the Interventionist Left (IL) and the Antifascist Left Berlin (ALB) failed, as did the later concentration on the “Berlin wing and the left fringes” of the German Communist Party . The main reason for joining the NAO was “political practice on the streets last year”. At the turn of the year 2014, the Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution reported that former members of the ARAB and ALB had reorganized themselves in the group radical left Berlin .
Content
The ARAB advocates the abolition of parliamentary democracy and a "solidary and classless social order". In her policy paper she calls for a militant anti-fascism and connects this with the fight against capitalism. According to the Berlin State Office for the Protection of the Constitution , the group is considered to be a violent force.
In the call for the LL demonstration in Berlin they write: Luxemburg and Liebknecht stand for a 'revolutionary perspective', for the "necessity to overcome capitalism in a revolutionary way and human coexistence beyond capitalist socialization."
The group is committed to not restricting its “ resistance to legal means alone ”. Since they see themselves as a revolutionary alliance , they are not bound by the civil code in their “evaluations of actions or means” . They then point out that violence is also induced by state power or is induced by the media.
According to the police union , the ARAB incited violence against people.
