Antioch Arrow was a mid-1990s emocore / screamo band from San Diego , California / USA .
history
The band was formed in the San Diego hardcore punk scene together with other bands such as Swing Kids and was one of the most emotional bands playing hardcore.
The founding member Aaron Ricards was replaced by Andy Ward, who was also active in the band Evergreen , after he left .
In total, the band toured the US three times, with the largest taking place in the summer of 1993. In July 1994 the band played the last show.
The album Gems of Masochism was released as a compilation in 1995 and re-released by Three On G Records in 2005.
style
The band had a great influence on what was later called Screamo . The band is often assigned to this genre itself.
On the Three On G Records label you can read about the style:
“An Antioch Arrow album or performance is an overwhelming art explosion of noisy poems sprayed in your face in one minute bursts. Sort of like someone emptying cans of Mace in your eyes. "
Antioch Arrow's style is often referred to as Art Hardcore and is intended to refer to the experimental, self-reflective character of the emoband in relation to normal hardcore.
