Antipaternal Antibodies

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antipaternal antibodies are special antibodies , mainly HLA antibodies, against the paternal white blood cells and organ cells. Antipaternal antibodies can develop during pregnancy , among other things .

The determination of antipaternal antibodies is sometimes carried out in the case of repeated spontaneous miscarriages in women, if no organic causes for the miscarriage can be determined. However, the immunological processes involved in pregnancy are complex and so far not fully understood. The German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics therefore recommends in its S1 guideline not to initiate complex immunological examinations. Studies on the immunization of women with lymphocytes from the partner ( paternal immunization ) have so far not been able to demonstrate a statistically demonstrable positive effect on subsequent pregnancies. There is also the risk of transmitting infectious diseases and the formation of irregular antibodies against red blood cells and platelets .
