Antje Wessels (classical philologist)
Antje Wessels (born January 8, 1967 in Heidelberg ) is a German classical philologist .
Life
Antje Wessels graduated in 1986 and 1987 at the Tübingen Leibniz College a General Studies . From 1987 to 1994 she studied classical philology in Freiburg im Breisgau, Cambridge and at the Free University of Berlin . She then worked as a research assistant in the DFG projects “Nachleben der Antike” at the University of Heidelberg (1995–1999) and “Antiquity in German-language literature after 1945” at the Free University of Berlin (1999–2004). Wessels received his doctorate in 2002 in Heidelberg under Glenn W. Most and Bernd Seidensticker with a thesis on Hermann Usener .
From 2008 to 2010 she was assistant professor for Latin at the Institute for Greek and Latin Philology at the Free University of Berlin. Wessels completed his habilitation in 2011 and has since been professor of Latin at the University of Leiden .
