Antoine Cellard (born March 21, 1912 in Lyon , † unknown) was a French football player .

Career

Cellard ran from 1926 to 1928 as an amateur player for Lyon Olympique Universitaire . From there, the left winger moved to Olympique Alès in 1928 . In 1929 he was promoted to the Division d'Honneur , which was the highest but regionally organized amateur league. With his team, the player managed to qualify for Division 1 , which was introduced in 1932 as the top division of France as a whole and established professional football at the national level.

In the course of the 1932/33 season Cellard came as a regular player in the newly founded league for use and scored six goals in 16 games, which the team could not save from relegation as group bottom in the then still two-pronged league. As a result, the club was one of the founders of Division 2 in the 1933/34 season , which was created a year after Division 1 as the second division. 1934 succeeded the direct promotion to the top division, which had meanwhile been combined into a group. Subsequently, Cellard was no longer one of the top performers and between 1934 and 1936 was about half of the games on the field; Substitutions and substitutions were not possible at that time.

Even if Alès had to start again in the second division in 1936, the offensive player could remain in the league because he found a new employer in SC Fives . He played eight league games and scored two goals for the Northern French before a leg injury he had sustained during a game in 1937 forced him to end his career; in the course of which Cellard had played 55 first division games and scored 15 hits.
