Antoine Chessex (* 1980 in Vevey , Switzerland ) is a Swiss composer, sound artist and saxophonist .

The focus of his work is the examination of physical aspects of sound and auditory psychological phenomena in space. His compositions are often characterized by the creation of sound surfaces . Over the years, Chessex's works have crossed the boundaries between noise , improvisation , notated new music and sound art .

Antoine Chessex works as an artist worldwide. He works closely with artists such as Zbigniew Karkowski , Jérôme Noetinger , Valerio Tricoli, Dave Phillips and the band Monno.

His most recent compositions include: “Plastic Concrete” and “Accumulation” (commissioned by Apartment House in London), “DUST for string trio and electronics” (commissioned by Pro Helvetia ), “Metakatharsis” and “Damage is Done” (im Commissioned by Phoenix Ensemble, Basel), “CHUTE” (commissioned by Kammerensemble Neue Musik, Berlin), “Klassen” and “Ritournelle Fulgurante” (commissioned by Oh-ton Ensemble, Oldenburg), “Furia” (commissioned by Ensemble Werkag, Zurich), “Schatten” (commissioned by Sonar String Quartet, Berlin), “Les Abîmes Hallucinés” (commissioned by Ensemble Proton , Bern) as well as numerous electronic works.

Chessex is also a speaker and has given lectures in institutions such as London University / Goldsmith College (London), University of California (Davis), Hochschule für Gestaltung (Offenbach am Main), Sibelius Academy (Helsinki) and Ny Musikk foundation (Oslo). He released around 20 CDs & LPs on various international labels.
