The monograph was published from 1840 to 1844 (complete edition with extensions) and contained excellent illustrations (the originals burned in the fire of the geological institute in Strasbourg in 1967). He also published on vertebrate remains of mussel lime in the Vosges and the Meurthe department , Bull. Soc. Géol. He was a member of the French geological society and from 1859 to 1879 a member and temporarily president of the Conseil général des Départment Vosges.
