Antoine Pillet (born July 29, 1857 in Chambéry , † December 6, 1926 in Paris ) was a French legal scholar in the field of private international law .

Life

Pillet was born in Chambéry in 1857. He studied law at the University of Grenoble . From 1884 to 1886 he taught at the University of Algiers before returning to Grenoble. He stayed there until he was appointed to the University of Paris in 1896 . Since the chair for private international law was already occupied by Armand Lainé and later by André Weiss , the chaire d'histoire des traités was appointed and - reluctantly - had to deal with questions of international law. It was not until 1924 that he became a professor of private international law. He also taught at the Institut des Hautes Études Internationales and at the Hague Conference on Private International Law . He died in Paris in 1926.
