Antoinette Ghislaine de Mérode (born September 28, 1828 in Brussels , † February 10, 1864 in Paris ) was Princess of Monaco .

She was born as the daughter of Count Werner de Merode (1797-1840) and his wife Countess Victoire von Spangen d'Uyternesse (1797-1845).

On September 28, 1846 she married the future Prince Charles III. Due to her large dowry , he was able to finance the beautification of Monte Carlo, which made the principality more attractive to foreign tourists. She also acquired Marchais Castle, which is still owned by the Grimaldi family today.

On November 13, 1848, she gave birth to Prince Albert , who later became Prince Albert I.

She died on February 10, 1864 and was buried in Monaco Cathedral.
