Anton Aloys Brandenberg
Anton Aloys Brandenberg (born April 29, 1853 in Zug , † February 5, 1942 in Rome ) was a Swiss sculptor .
life and work
Brandenberg came from Zug. He was the son of Michael Georg Alois. After an apprenticeship in stone carving in Zug, Brandenberg took up drawing and sculpture at the Zurich Polytechnic . In 1873 he attended the arts and crafts school and the Niesen studio in Munich. From 1873 to 1876 Brandenberg stayed in Laas (Tyrol) with the sculptor Carl Johann Steinhäuser and then returned to Munich. In 1878 he was in Karlsruhe, then until 1881 at the Dresden Art Academy . Brandenberg worked on the Niederwald monument near Rüdesheim am Rhein (Hesse). Before moving to Rome, he studied at the Vienna Art Academy in 1890 . Brandenberg's group of figures Pietà and The Good Shepherd are located in St. Oswald in Zug . In addition to tombs and portrait busts, Brandenberg created several unexecuted designs, including a. Wilhelm Tell , Adrian von Bubenberg and Peter Kolin .
