Anton Brandauer

Anton Brandauer (born June 15, 1946 in Hallein ) is a former Austrian fire department functionary.

Life

Anton Brandauer joined the Hallein volunteer fire brigade in 1962 and was its deputy commander from 1980 to 1990 until he became the fire brigade commander in 1997.

From 1982 to 1990 he was press officer for the regional fire brigade association and editor-in-chief of the fire brigade magazine Salzburg Florian. In 1989 Brandauer switched to the Salzburg State Fire Brigade Association, where he initially headed the financial administration and later the office. In 1996 Brandauer was elected as the successor to Harald Ribitsch as state fire brigade commander. He handed this position over to Leo Winter on June 15, 2009.

From 1998 to 2008 he was Vice President of the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association and Chairman of the Technical Committee for Voluntary Fire Brigades in the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association.

On September 20, 2003 Brandauer was elected Vice President of the International Fire Brigade Association and was responsible for international competitions and international youth fire fighters. After Josef Holaubek , Sepp Kast and Alfred Zeilmayr, he became the fourth Austrian top functionary of the International Fire Brigade Association.

During Anton Brandauer's tenure, there was the fire disaster of the Gletscherbahn Kaprun 2 in 2000 , the fire in the Tauern tunnel in 1999 and the Salzach flood in 2002. He was also committed to the ongoing renewal of equipment and emergency vehicles, as well as youth work.

Private

Brandauer has been married since 1968 and is the father of a daughter and a son.
