Anton Fischer (manufacturer)
Anton Fischer (later also Anton von Fischer-Ankern or Anton Fischer Ritter von Ankern ; born June 27, 1812 in St. Aegyd , † April 7, 1902 in Vienna ) was an Austrian steel goods manufacturer.
Life
Anton Fischer was the son of Daniel Fischer . He expanded his father's factories in St. Aegyd and Furthof, acquired the Aumühl ironworks near Kindberg in 1866 and gave Austria's iron and steel industry a tremendous boost. Because of his industrial achievements, he was awarded the title "Knight of Anchors". In 1869 he sold the entire property to the St. Egydy and Kindberger Eisen- und Stahl-Industrie-Gesellschaft .
