Anton Friedrich Koch

Anton Friedrich Koch (* 1952 in Gießen ) is a German philosopher and has been professor of philosophy since 2009 with a focus on classical Greek metaphysics, Kant and German idealism as well as contemporary philosophy at Heidelberg University .

Life

After studying philosophy and German at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where he received his doctorate in May 1980, he initially remained as a research assistant at the University of Heidelberg. From 1982 to 1989 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Philosophy in Munich . There he completed his habilitation there in January 1989 on the subject of subjectivity in space and time . He then stayed in Munich, now as a private lecturer and senior assistant until 1993, after which he was a substitute professor in Halle , where he was appointed to the chair for the history of philosophy from 1993–96. Between 1996 and 2009 Anton Friedrich Koch taught in Tübingen , where, among other things, he made the acquaintance of the Tübingen school . He has been teaching in Heidelberg since 2009. In the spring semester of 2009 he received a visiting professorship at Emory University in Atlanta ( Georgia ) and in the winter quarter of 2016 a visiting professorship at the University of Chicago .

Since 2008 he has been a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences .
