Anton Galehr

Anton Galehr (born November 13, 1900 in Nüziders ; † October 2, 1957 in Bludenz ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1949 to 1957 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Galehr first attended elementary school in Nüziders and then switched to the Nüziders advanced training school before completing an agricultural course in Admont in Styria . He worked at his parents' farm from 1915 to February 1918 and was then called up for military service in the First World War. In the autumn of 1918 he returned from the First World War. After his return from the war, he again worked on his parents' farm between 1918 and 1931. In 1931 he went into business for himself as a farmer with his own farm in Nüziders and ran his own cider factory on his farm.

Politics and functions

During the Second World War , between 1939 and 1945, Galehr was active as a local farmer for Nüziders. From 1950 to 1957 he was a member of the Nüziders municipal council and also served as a member of the municipal council from 1955 to 1957. He was a member of the Construction, Agriculture and Forestry Committee. He was also a board member of the savings and loan fund Nüziders and board member of the consumer association. As a member of the constituency of Bludenz , he represented the ÖVP from October 25, 1949 until his death in the state parliament, where he was also a member of the agricultural committee. Galehr, who joined the Austrian Farmers' Union and the Austrian People's Party in Vorarlberg in 1946 , worked within the party from 1949 to 1957 as a member of the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vorarlberg and was a member of the state party council of the ÖVP Vorarlberg from 1950 to 1957.

Private

Anton Galehr was the son of the farmer couple Dominikus and Katharina Galehr. He married Juliane Galleitner in 1931 and had two sons and two daughters, who were born between 1932 and 1937. Galehr died in 1957 after suffering a sudden heart attack at Bludenz train station .
