Anton Gasperschitz

Anton Gasperschitz (born May 5, 1885 in Spittal an der Drau , † November 11, 1975 in Linz ) was an Austrian workers secretary and politician .

Life

The son of a works guide chose the profession of sculptor and graphic artist, but worked as an editor for the Kärntner Tagblatt in Klagenfurt. In 1909 he became a Christian workers' secretary in Linz, where he was the founder of the first workers' business association and founding chairman of the Catholic workers' union. In 1918/1919 he was a member of the provisional provincial assembly and then a member of the provincial parliament until his resignation in January 1935. He was also a member of the Upper Austrian provincial government , most recently in the cabinet of Gleißner IIbelonged to. He was primarily responsible for the departments of transport, welfare, water law, community affairs and tourism.

Between 1935 and 1938 and from 1945 to 1950 Gasperschitz was President of the Upper Austrian Tourist Association. He was also Vice President of the Upper Austrian Scouts and regional group leader of the Kneipp Association. For his services he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Austrian Order of Merit in 1935 and the Silver Lily of the Boy Scouts.
