Anton Hügli

Anton Hügli (born November 19, 1939 in Solothurn ) is a Swiss philosopher .

Life

Hügli attended the Solothurn Cantonal School , which he graduated with a primary school teacher certificate in 1960 . After working as a primary school teacher, he studied philosophy and the minor subjects psychology , German / Nordic studies and mathematics at the universities of Basel and Copenhagen from 1962 . He received his doctorate in 1970 as an assistant at the Philosophical Department of the University of Basel (1968–1973). From 1973 to 1976, Hügli did a research and study visit at Oxford University . From 1977 to 1981 he was a lecturer at the University of Münster ; at the same time he headed the central editorial office of the historical dictionary of philosophy . In 1981, Hügli completed his habilitation in philosophy at Bielefeld University . From 1981 to 2001 he was director of the Pedagogical Institute Basel-Stadt. In 1993 the University of Basel appointed him Associate Professor of Philosophy of Education, and from 2001 until his retirement in 2005 he was Professor of Philosophy and Education and Head of the Department of Education.
