Anton Huber (musician)

Anton Huber (born April 15, 1888 in Munich ; † September 3, 1966 there ) was a German violinist . He played the violin , the viola and the viola d'amore .

Life

After the First World War he played in Munich with Johannes Hobohm ( harpsichord ) and Christian Döbereiner ( cello ) in his Döbereiner trio for early music . From February 15, 1922 to 1953, Huber was initially a teacher and later professor at the Academy of Music in Munich. During these years he also played together with his academy colleagues Valentin Härtl (viola), Johannes Hegar (violoncello) and Felix Berber (violin) in his “Berber Quartet”. He also played from 1934 to 1937 as second violinist with Anton Walter (cello), Valentin Härtl (viola) andWilhelm Stross (violin) in his Stross Quartet .

Huber was not a party member of the NSDAP during the National Socialist era .
