from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anton Poschacher (* 1889 ; † 1967 ) was an Austrian industrialist . He headed the A. Poschacher Granitwerke in Mauthausen from 1913 to 1954.

Life

He was the only son of Anton Poschacher (1841–1904) and Louise Poschacher (née Ried from Vienna), his two sisters were Marie Louise Poschacher and Monika Poschacher (married to JK Ernst). With his wife Ilse he had four daughters, including Wilburg .

Since he was not yet of age when his father died in 1904, the company's authorized signatory, Franz Krammer, ran the granite works together with Poschacher's mother, Louise Poschacher, and was also the guardian of the three underage children.

After completing his studies, Poschacher was able to take over the management of the company himself in 1913, but in 1914 he was called up as a lieutenant and assigned to Infantry Regiment No. 84, which he served throughout the First World War. The management of the company was again subject to Krammer. Due to the war, the number of employees fell to 290.

Under his leadership, the company was badly affected by the First and Second World Wars , economic crises and Russian occupation. At times the quarries were closed due to the war. The upswing after the Second World War started only slowly. At the beginning of the 1950s it was handed over to his daughter Wilburg and her husband Leopold Helbich .
