Anton Sar

Anton Sar (born January 1, 1747 in Metz ; † March 5, 1817 in Heidelberg ) was a German theologian and Romanist of French origin.

life and work

Until 1791, Sar was a teacher of philosophy and theology at the seminary in Metz . In 1791 the theological faculty of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg appointed him to the chair of dogmatics. From 1804 until his death he was a full professor of the French language at the same university and had Joseph von Eichendorff as his student.
