Anton Schoenberger

Anton Schönberger (born January 21, 1830 in Wels-Hochpoint , Austrian Empire , † December 23, 1871 in Wels , Austria-Hungary ) was an Austrian dialect writer and master painter .

Life

Anton Schönberger was born on January 21, 1830 as the son of a fisherman in the village of Hochpoint near Wels. After attending elementary school in Wels, he then worked on the farm for three years before he began an apprenticeship as a painter with August Gnad in Linz . From 1848 he belonged for two and a half years to the kuk Lower Austrian military police battalion "Kopal" No. 10 with a garrison in Vigo di Fassa . Among other things, he took part in the Italian campaigns before he returned to Linz as a painter's assistant after his military service. Most recently he worked as an independent master painter in Wels, where he also belonged to the local song board. Furthermore, he was considered a quick-witted occasional poet, whose poetry testified to fresh humor. On December 23, 1871, Schönberger died about a month before his 42nd birthday in his hometown of Wels.
