Anton Schachenhofer

Anton Schachenhofer (* 1962 in Vienna ) is an Austrian double bass player .

Anton Schachenhofer studied double bass at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. At the age of 19 he won auditions for the RSO Vienna and for the Bruckner Orchestra Linz . He took up the position in the Bruckner Orchestra Linz as deputy section leader and has been section leader of the double bass group since 1988.

Anton Schachenhofer has worked as a soloist with traditional and contemporary double bass literature since 1982. Performances of well-known and new chamber music works enrich his repertoire. He has dedicated himself to youth orchestral work for over thirteen years.

Anton Schachenhofer has been leading the double bass class at the Anton Bruckner Private University since 1986 . He also teaches double bass master classes, preparing students for audition, and is a jury member at double bass competitions.
