Anton Steixner

Anton Steixner (born March 26, 1957 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian farmer, politician ( ÖVP ) and councilor in the Tyrolean state government . On July 1st, 2008, Steixner was elected Deputy Governor.

After finishing elementary and secondary school, Anton Steixner attended the Rotholz agricultural college . In 1978 he passed the agricultural master's examination. From 1975 he works as a farmer.

Anton Steixner is heavily involved in the Tyrolean farmers' associations. Between 1975 and 1981, Steixner was local chairman of the Tyrolean young farmers, from 1978 to 1981 regional chairman of the rural youth and between 1981 and 1984 regional chairman of the Tyrolean young farmers. Between 1984 and 2002 he also worked as local farmer chairman and from 1986 to 1992 as district farmer's deputy. Steixner has been provincial chairman of the Tyrolean farmers' union since 1988 . Before that, he had already been the regional chairman from 1986.

Steixner began his political career in 1986 in the local council and in the Tyrolean state parliament . Steixner was a member of Mutters' local council until 2004; after being elected as vice-president of the state parliament from 1994 to 2006, he was active in the state parliament. On January 3rd, 2006 Anton Steixner was elected to the provincial council and member of the Tyrolean provincial government. His department currently includes the agendas of agriculture and forestry, animal and plant protection, water law and water management, transport association matters, energy, security administration and fire services.

Steixner lives with his wife and three daughters on the Schöberlhof, a farm in Mutters. In addition to his dairy farm, he also breeds horses. He has been a successful Haflinger breeder with currently three broodmares for over ten years.
