Anton Sutterlüty

Anton Sutterlüty (born January 3, 1933 in Egg ; † April 21, 2020 there ) was a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and administrative lawyer. From 1969 to 1984 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and from 1980 to 2000 mayor of Egg.

education and profession

After attending five years of elementary school in Egg and three years of grammar school in Mehrerau, Sutterlüty graduated from the Bundesgymnasium Feldkirch between 1949 and 1954, where he passed the Matura in 1954 . He then studied law at the University of Innsbruck from 1954 and completed his studies in December 1958 with a doctorate. jur. from. Professionally, Sutterlüty was employed in 1959 as a trainee at the regional courts of Innsbruck, Feldkirch and at the Bezau district court. After that, on January 1, 1960, he entered the service of the state of Vorarlberg and worked for the district authorities of Bregenz, Feldkirch and Bludenz as well as in the finance, general presidential affairs and legislation of the Vorarlberg state government. In 1966 he moved to the Feldkirch regional road construction office and then from 1972 to 1980 he was the director of the general economic affairs department and head of the foreign trade office at the regional government office. Due to his political office, he was released from work in 1980 and retired on January 1, 1996.

Politics and functions

Sutterlüty got involved with the Catholic University Youth Innsbruck during his studies. In 1965 he became a member of the Austrian People's Party and the ÖAAB and in 1965 took over the position of ÖVP local party chairman von Egg, where he held this position until 1995. He was also a member of the ÖVP district and state party leadership from 1969 to 1984 and deputy district party chairman of the ÖVP Bezau from 1972 to 1983. He was also active in the ÖAAB from 1969 to 1984 as a member of the district and state party leadership. From November 5, 1969 to November 5, 1969, as a representative of the Bregenz electoral district, he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament, replacing a member of the government after every state election and therefore never belonged to the state parliament from the beginning of a period. At the local political level, he was a member of Egg's municipal council from April 1965. In 1980 he became a member of the municipal council and mayor of Egg, where he led the finance, spatial planning and culture departments. Furthermore, he was chairman of various committees and, during his tenure as mayor, chairman of the transport commission, chairman of the waste water purification plant. In addition to his political offices, Sutterlüty was involved in numerous associations. He was chairman of the Egg Church Choir, a member of the Egg men's choir and a member of the Egg Alpine Club as well as nature conservation and high mountain warden. He was involved as a founding member of the Egg Ice Sports Club, was a member of the SC Egg and a member of the Egg Gymnastics Club. He was also active in the Bregenzerwald regional planning community and in the representative of the Bregenzerwald stand, was a member and chairman of the Egg Savings Bank Council and was a member of the parish council of the Egg parish.

Private

Sutterlüty's father, Johann Peter Sutterlüty (1892–1977), was a businessman and also mayor of Egg. His mother Anna Sutterlüty, née Geser, came from Andelsbuch . Sutterlüty married Christine Prewein, who was born in Lower Austria, in 1969 and between 1970 and 1988 he had eight sons and three daughters.
