Anton Weiher

Anton Weiher (born January 22, 1886 in Grafenau , Lower Bavaria , † April 2, 1961 in Munich ) was a German classical scholar and pedagogue . He received his doctorate in 1913 in Munich under Otto Crusius and Robert von Pöhlmann with the script Philosophen und Philosophenspott in Attic comedy . From 1915 he taught at the Kaiserslautern grammar school and from 1933 at the Theresien grammar school in Munich , of which he was director from 1945 to 1951. From 1948 he was honorary professor for classical philology at the University of Munich . He was also a corresponding member of the Palatinate Society for the Advancement of Science.

In addition to didactic publications, Weiher is particularly known for his translations of the Homeric Hymns and the Odyssey .
