Antoni Jan Szymanowski (born January 13, 1951 in Tomaszów Mazowiecki ) is a former Polish football player .

Right-back Szymanowski played for Wisła Kraków when he was first appointed to the Polish national football team in 1970 , and was also appointed to the squad at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich by national coach Kazimierz Górski , where he won the gold medal with Kazimierz Deyna 's team . He did not play in the final, but was a regular after the Olympic tournament and qualified a year later for the 1974 World Cup in Germany , where he won the bronze medal. He was also part of the national team at the 1978 World Cup . The team failed in the second round to hosts Argentina and Brazil . In 1980 he played his last of a total of 82 international matches and in 1981 moved from his former club Gwardia Warsaw to the Belgian top club FC Brugge , where he ended his career in 1984.
