Antoni Wojciechowski

Antoni Wojciechowski (born June 6, 1905 , † January 19, 1938 in Warsaw ) was a Polish chess master.

Wojciechowski, a tax officer by profession, first took part in the Poznań Championship in 1926 , where he shared 2nd and 3rd place. In 1927 and 1928 he won the championship, in 1929 and 1932 he was runner-up. He represented the selection of the city of Poznan at the Polish team championship in 1929 and the selection of the Pomerania region in 1934. In 1934 he achieved the best individual result on the first board. After moving to Inowrocław , he won the Pomeranian Championship and qualified for the Polish Individual Championships in 1935 (in Warsaw ) and 1937 (in Jurata ). He represented Poland at the unofficial Chess Olympiad in Munich in 1936 on the 8th board and reached second place with the team. He spent the last years of his life in Warsaw, where he took an active part in the local chess life. From 1935 until his death he was considered one of the leading master players in Poland.
